Franklin Delano Roosevelt (January 30, 1882 – April 12, 1945), also known by his initials, FDR, was the thirty-second President of the United States and the only president to be elected four times. Roosevelt served as president of the United States from 1933 to 1945 and was a central figure in world events during the mid-20th century. FDR led the United States during the Great Depression and World War II. He founded New Deal program and greatly expanded the powers of the federal government.
