Louisa May Alcott (1832 – 1888) was an American novelist. She is best known for her novels Little Women, Little Men and Jo’s Boys. Since early age Alcott had to work to support her family. Her novel Little Women, published in 1868 and based on Luisa’s childhood experiences, was very well received. This novel gave Alcott financial independence and it is a popular children’s novel until our days.Louisa was an advocate of women’s rights and abolition. She died in Boston in 1888.
