Your kid can`t sit still, never seems to listen or follow instructions. His behavior makes you wonder if your kid has attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) or it’s just a part of growing up.
The difficulty of identifying ADHD is that all kids are tend to forget about homework, daydream during their classes or stuck in the washing machine sometimes. So, how can you know if it’s time to go to the doctor? Here is a list of common signs that may indicate ADHD:
– Your kid disrupts everyone around him with sudden outburst of laughter for no apparent reason.
– Your kid asks you a million questions on different subjects within 5 minutes.
– Your kid is unable to recognize other people’s needs and desires.
– Your kid has trouble paying attention, even when being spoken to directly.
– Your kid is quieter and less involved than the other kids. When everyone is having fun together his attention might be miles away.
– Another possible sign of ADHD is every time you need to get out for a walk. Your kid is bouncing off the walls.
– If you hear something like this from your kid – “I have heard my teacher’s voice, but the trees outside were calling my name louder, so I paid attention to them”.
– Your kid shows interest in lots of various things, but may have problems seeing them through to the end.
– Your kid has difficulty remembering things he or she has experienced during the day.
Do not worry if you spot just a few signs of ADHD. Kids are kids, after all. It’s normal for them to occasionally act without thinking, or get fidgety at the dinner table. Start thinking about seeing the doctor only in case your kid regularly exhibits all of these signs across all situations.
First you can start by talking to your kid’s pediatrician or school psychologist. If the process leads to an ADHD diagnosis you might consider hiring a specialist who has experience working with kids with ADHD to determine the best course of action and help your kid with school subjects – ADHD tutor.
You, as a parent, can help your kid by making him except his mind for what it is. Your kid should understand how his brain works and be able to get advantage of it instead of being miserable trying to be the same as everyone else.
