"I'm a passionate science educator with over 10 years of experience in the field. My degree in biological anthropology has allowed me to experience a unique combination of museum education and project based curriculum design.
I spent 6 years working at the American Museum of Natural History growing from a college intern to a curriculum designer and Adventures in Science Lead Instructor. In such a dynamic learning environment I soaked up information that was not traditionally covered in my studies. The courses I designed and taught included Astronomy, Paleontology, Oceanography and even more!
The bulk of my formal years as an educator were done at Avenues: The World School (NY) and Avenues Online, where I served as a STEAM teacher and Dean of Students. At Avenues I co-wrote all of the science curriculum for grades 6-9, the curriculum was always project based. One such course was an out of country experience to Cape Town, South Africa. My team journeyed with 24 students to study the water crisis for 11 days. Over the years I have helped students understand biology, physics, chemistry, geology and many more disciplines all through the use of projects that get them in the hands on mode. I have also worked closely with students 1 on 1 to ensure academic success. My specialties are middle grades science, HS integrated science, and Anthropology.
My passion for science education can be felt through my teaching, I take pride in helping my students discover their love for science too." less...
