"Hi there and welcome to my tutor profile! I'm a former teacher with 10 years of experience teaching preschool all the way up to middle school ELA. I graduated magna cum laude with a degree in Elementary Education and an endorsement in middle school Language Arts from Calumet College of St Joseph in 2009. I began my career as a 6th grade Language Arts teacher and a few years later moved to a self contained 5th grade and then 3rd grade classroom. Before taking time off to be home with my children, I taught in a 2-4 year old preschool in a small private school setting. Working with such a wide range of ages has strengthened my ability to effectively differentiate my lessons for all ability levels.

I take great pride in building a solid rapport with my students and truly believe in the adage "kids don't care what you know until they know that you care". In my position as a middle school teacher and elementary teacher I spent many hours every week doing after school tutoring for my students as well as working on the school wide PBIS team. While on this team, I assisted in the development of effective and engaging classroom management tools for teachers as well as creating meaningful incentives for students' positive behavior. I also developed a 3rd grade ELA co teaching curriculum with my fellow 3rd grade teacher that allowed us to better differentiate for the wide range of reading ability we had in our classroom. We presented this curriculum and our Co teaching model at state wide seminars at the request of our principal and Curriculum and Instruction director.

I'm excited to finally be re-entering the workforce after spending the last few years home with my young children! I'm available a few evenings a week as well as some weekend hours for online tutoring in any Pre-K - 5 subject area or ELA tutoring at the middle school level.
