"I have been teaching advanced math at a Virginia secondary high school since 2010. I am currently licensed in Middle School Math and Science and Secondary Mathematics (until 2032).

I love working with young people to develop an understanding of how to "read" math. I enjoy helping students build on their own understanding of basic math to master advanced concepts. I help students build a bridge between everyday occurrences and the relationships with mathematics. I truly believe that all person's have the ability to become math experts with the appropriate type of practice. I recognize that people learn more about math by doing math and all students learn from different perspectives. Some students do better with lectures, some learn from reading, some learn from watching, and others learn from doing.

My method of instruction is the I do, We do, You do method. This is where I show how to solve a problem, we solve a similar problem together, and you solve an additional problem on your own.

I thoroughly enjoy mathematics and would happily share my love of learning with you.

To be an excellent tutor, I listen to my students and develop a plan for their learning by understanding what they already know. I take their knowledge of math and help them to build on it to better understand new and different concepts. I want to help students understand mathematics and master the ability to learn it on their own. I love mathematics and enjoy sharing that passion with my students.
