*I am a previously licensed teacher in the state of Florida

*I have over 15 years combined experience tutoring students in the following academic areas: Spanish, Algebra, Geometry, Anatomy, Physiology, Biology, Earth/Space Science, and Editing Papers.

MY EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND:

*I am certified to teach Middle School Grades 5-9 Science. I have an AS in Computer Technology from ITT Technical Institute, a BA in Psychology from the University of South Florida, and an AS in Nursing from Hillsborough Community College.

*I am bilingual and have spoken Spanish for most of my life.

PERSONAL NOTE CONCERNING PROPER EDUCATION & DIFFERENT LEARNING STYLES:

*I think it is important that students receive proper guidance while studying, having someone there to assist them in finding solutions to a problem...not answering the problems for them but rather working with them in learning how to find the solutions themselves. I believe that every child is different and does not learn in the same way...I like to implement varying learning strategies to help them feel confident in themselves and achieve academic success.

TUTORING STYLE:

*My tutoring style consists of getting to know the student initially by assessing where they are academically, then ascertaining the student's current and ongoing academic goals by maintaining a line of communication with the student and if warranted, their parents/guardians.

*I prefer one-on-one tutoring at first, that way I can properly assess the needs of an individual student. Then when students gain some knowledge, I like to tutor in a small group setting, to help assimilate the student into the classroom environment in which they will be a part of during regular school instruction." less...
