"Struggle no more and watch your student's confidence skyrocket!
I am a very passionate educator who is not afraid to celebrate victory with your child as they overcome even the smallest academic hurdles. My life and career experiences have added a great deal of depth of insight into the need for uniquely individualizing sessions to fit your child best. I have had 15+ years of experience in the education field and am currently working as an Educational Therapist.
In addition, I have experience teaching as an Intervention Specialist and working with students of all ability types, including ADHD, 2e (Twice-Exceptional), HFA, learning delayed, emotional/behavioral at risk, and a wide variety of other disabilities. I am also a mother to a very hands-on 18-year-old senior with ADHD and developmental delays. Therefore, I understand the need to ensure that instructional approaches are suited for your child's learning style and start all sessions with a few brief assessments identifying how their brain currently organizes and sorts data to assist with individualizing sessions specific to your learner. This allows me to know where to start with instructional approaches and what kind of mode would best deliver the instruction. (Games, interactives, hands-on, visuals, modeling, etc.)
I strive to break down your student's specific areas of struggle or weakness and utilize their specific topics of interest, helping increase engagement and connecting them to needed skills for lifelong success. I've found this technique has a much higher success rate, helping students "retain" their newly developed skill in the "long-term" area of their brain vs. their "short-term" areas. This makes it much easier for them to apply their skills with a higher level of rigor." less...
