"Prior to joining the Coast Guard I worked as a Historic Interpreter at Colonial Williamsburg. I hold a Masters in Military History with a concentration in the American Revolution and a Graduate Certificate in Civil War Studies. I am the co-founder of the Williamsburg-Yorktown American Revolution Round Table.

Presently I am pursuing my PhD in History through Liberty University where I hold a 3.93 GPA. My areas of expertise include the American Revolution and the American Civil War. I also focus on 18th and 19th century American History.

I go beyond just studying dates and events by using primary sources to bring history more alive. The use of primary sources allow the student to see history from the viewpoint and words of those who lived in the time period they are studying. I also use visual aids such as maps, pictures, and digitized newspapers to dive deeper into the topics being studied.
