"Hello! I have extensive experience working with writers on moving past blocks, developing their voice, finding new ideas, and storytelling. I have a knack for building confidence and emotional resilience and a keen eye for showing students how to put the final polish on their work.
My students have been accepted at the Iowa Young Writers’ Studio, NYU, Yale, USC, UCLA, Columbia University, the California Institute for the Arts, and more. Students from my program have gone on to become professional writers, filmmakers, and comic book creators.
I specialize in creative writing: fiction (fantasy, science fiction, horror, literary), screenwriting, memoir, podcast drama, comic book scripts, and playwriting. Over the last 20 years I’ve read thousands of submissions for arts programs and writing contests. I have a strong sense for how to stand out from the crowd and make your voice heard.
I look forward to working with you!
I am the chair of the writing department at the California State Summer School for the Arts, where I develop classes for high school aged writing students. I have taught creative writing in the classroom and through individual mentoring for over 20 years. I’ve also served as a national judge for the Scholastic Arts and Writing Awards. I’m a founding member of the Impact Theatre Company. My plays have been produced in New York, San Francisco, and Boston. My audio drama The Daemon was purchased by Amazon. I have a B.F.A. from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts and an M.F.A. from the New School for Drama.

It is shown in hourly increments, per Wyzant, but the quote is an approximation of word count and how much work the writing will need. Some pieces require deep revisions, while some only need a polish!" less...
