"I have 20+ years teaching experience in the area of mathematics education as a middle school teacher, high school teacher, mathematics and science tutor, and mathematics professor. At SUNY College at Brockport, I acquired a BS Degree (3 Majors: Physics, Chemistry, & Psychology with 1 Minor: Mathematics), MA Degree (Mathematics), and a MSEd Degree (Adolescence Mathematics). At Walden University, last year I completed an MPhil Degree in Psychology with a specialization in Teaching. Currently, I am at the dissertation phase of a doctoral degree in Psychology with a specialization in Teaching. My reasons for pursuing this doctorate degree is to further refine my understanding of the psychology of learning to promote mathematics success across all ages. Over the years, I have taught most of the typical mathematics courses that arise at the undergraduate level as well as a few graduate level courses. In addition, I have taught mathematics and science at both the middle school and high school level. When I taught middle school and high school, I had acquired 10 New York State Initial Teaching Certificates in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and General Science for grades 7-12 (5 teaching certificates) with a 5-6 grade extension on each (5 teaching certificates). Currently, I teach as a full-time mathematics professor at a college in New York City.
With regard to my tutoring experience, I have worked as a mathematics and science tutor within both a Sylvan Learning Center and Huntington Learner Center. Although I teach full-time as a mathematics professor and part-time at local universities and colleges, I truly enjoy teaching students of all ages. I get as much pleasure teaching elementary mathematics as I do teaching upper level graduate mathematics. Over the past 20+ years, I have been very fortunate to be able to make a career within the mathematics education field.
Even before I started my career as a mathematics educator, I have had an insatiable passion for empowering others learn mathematics in thei" less...
