"Hi, I'm Jacqueline! I received a B.A from Colby College in Gov't with history as a minor. I also received a law degree. After a career practicing law, I pursued a goal to become a f/t certified 7-12 teacher of History, Gov't/Politics, Law , & HS Economics together with teaching college level Business Law and Paralegal courses for 20 yrs. My background includes teaching essay writing, researching, organizing, & writing papers, critical thinking & analytical skills, & test taking strategies.
After practicing private and public law, I became a permanently certified 7-12th social studies teacher and a college adjunct instructor in Bus Law and paralegal courses in RPL and Bus Organ. In my secondary education career, I taught 7th/8th grade U.S History, 11th grade U.S. History & Gov't, 12th grade Government, 12th grade Economics, & HS Crim Justice. I also tutored U.S. History & Gov't and World History academic intervention classes and 7th/8th ELA academic intervention classes. I also taught Eng 9 for 3 yrs. three yrs & coached a successful HS mock trial team for 7 yrs.
My philosophy is that learning is a lifelong process with many immediate and long term rewards. Education will enrich you in many ways. I've used a student-centered method recognizing that there are different learning styles. I've emphasized reading, writing, and critical thinking skills. I believe there are ways to improve test taking with established strategies & skills. I am motivated to help students learn these strategies and skills together with understanding their course content better.
