"Hello! I enjoy teaching chemistry and have done so for 25 years at the high school level. I have taught AP Chemistry and first-year Chemistry in Lamar CISD for a quarter of a century. One of my skills is using plain language to make chemistry concepts understandable. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Eastern Michigan University.

I have done some tutoring with college students and do offer tutoring for both high school as well as beginning levels of college chemistry. What is awesome about tutoring is being able to work individually with a person and tutor using methods that work best for the individual student. One effective tutoring method I use to first work through a stoichiometry problem with a student. After we have worked through the first problem together, I provide the student with a second problem and give them a chance to solve the problem on their own (of course, they may ask questions if they get stuck). I then provide appropriate feedback and will provide the student with a third sample problem to solve if the student has such a request. The key is that the student eventually must be able to solve the problem on their own. For the student to be successful, they must prove to themselves that they can solve a particular type of problem. Then the student's confidence increases and the student has a good, positive feeling about their ability to be successful in chemistry!
