"Hi! my name is Tyson, and I'm an online guitar teacher and professional musician who teaches all kinds of students on video conference lessons from my home about a half hour north of Atlanta, Georgia. I have been teaching guitar and many other instruments since 1992. I studied classical guitar at Kennesaw State University, and jazz guitar at Georgia State University. I teach a wide variety of guitar and other instrument styles to students age 13 and up, including rock, jazz, metal, classical guitar, country, 80s rock, classic rock, funk, and many more.
I like to start by teaching my students the important concepts they need to get them playing quickly- by using the music that THEY are familiar with, like to listen to, and want to play. I work at each student's pace and adjust my teaching style to their individual way of thinking.
I can teach anyone from the absolute "square one" beginner who has never played a guitar or other instrument before, to a musician of any skill level who wants to take it to the next level or get back on track with their playing. I can provide students from younger teenagers to grown adults with a new, personally rewarding, and fun hobby that they can be proud of, and I can also help with specific short or long term goals such as college music placement or auditions, high school senior projects, skills for playing in a school jazz or rock band program or church praise and worship group, tutoring for better grades in music theory class (high school or college level), and much more.
I also teach beginner to advanced music theory, songwriting, ear training, and software music production to students who want to write and know more about the building blocks of music. In addition to teaching guitar, I can also teach ukulele, bass guitar, banjo, basic piano, and voice." less...
