"My education includes graduating from Assumption Jr-Sr High School in 1986. I then went on to receive my Bachelor of Science in Animal Science with a Minor in Agribusiness Economics from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, Illinois. In 2006, I went back to get certified to teach agriculture and work on my Masters of Science in Workforce Education. I hope to finish my graduate degree in the coming year.
My experience with teaching elementary and secondary students include substitute teaching in Illinois for eleven years for grades K-12. I also have experience working with learning disabled and behavioral disorder students while substitute teaching through Tri-County Special Education in Illinois. I taught horticulture Science at East. Louis High School from 2008-2012 and agriculture science at a middle school for the past two school years. In 2002-2003, I also did some one on one tutoring while I was a youth pastor at 1st Baptist Carterville. I helped him with improving his reading skills.
I believe in positive verbal reinforcement in tutoring. I also believe students don't care how much you know till they know how much you care. That means getting to know what that student enjoys and the goals they have set for himself or herself and communicating how their school work and dreams meet. I also believe that perseverance is required and can't should not be a cart of that student's vocabulary." less...
