"My name is Paulina and I am currently a 4th year medical student at Baylor College of Medicine! I graduated summa cum laude from Rice University with a degree in Neuroscience and minor in Biochemistry and Cell Biology. After college, I spent a year working as a designer in tech and am now in medical school. I have a wide range of teaching experiences under my belt including tutoring grade school math, college biology, medical school level infectious disease, and have volunteered developing curriculum for and teaching health/wellness/medicine topics to formerly incarcerated women in a transitional residence.

My focus is editing essays for medical school applications, personal statements, etc. and helping students formulate a cohesive, compelling, and well-rounded narrative that conveys passion and impact. However, I am flexible and happy to provide advising on all things medical school as well as USMLE Step 1 and Step 2 tutoring/advice! My approach to teaching includes making the lesson as interactive as possible, and teaching them how to think rather than teaching them answers. I like to break down questions and have students think out loud at each step, even if they may not know the answer yet. This personalized method helps me gauge students' existing knowledge base, learn how they like to think, and help fill in the gaps using reasoning that is suited to them. Further, it helps students reach the answers on their own, leaving them well-equipped to tackle new information." less...
