"I am a 4th year medical student at FIU and obtained my undergraduate degree (BS) in Human Biology from USC. Throughout my schooling journey, I have taken many advanced STEM courses in high school and college including AP Biology, AP physics, AP calculus, Human Anatomy & Physiology, Inorganic & Organic chemistry, Biochemistry, and more. I successfully completed the MCAT exam, scoring in the 93rd percentile on my way to starting medical school. In the last few years, I completed all required courses and national board exams required for medical school, covering basic sciences and advanced courses about each system of the human body. I have experience tutoring various science subjects and am passionate about teaching concepts to my peers. I have a particular interest in physiology, anatomy, and biology. My goal is to help students realize their full potential, give them the tools they need to succeed academically, and feel fulfilled seeing their meaningful progress!
My previous experience includes private tutoring math and science for students in elementary through high school, teaching a nutrition and metabolism class while in college through the Joint Educational Project, and holding review sessions for medical school students. Having experienced being a student needing a tutor myself, I always found that teachers who would meet me at my level and take time to understand how I learn best were significantly more beneficial for me compared to standardized "one-size-fits-all" lessons. For that reason, I would describe my teaching style as working side-by-side with my students to work through concepts they are having difficulties with in the learning style that works best for them. My goal is to help students reach a point where they can repeat the thought processes we discussed on their own and go on to master concepts or answer questions without my help. I enjoy learning about what types of learning styles each individual student thrives under and attack our learning needs accordingly." less...
