"Hello! My name is Kylie and I graduated from the University of Southern California with a B.S. in Human Biology, a B.A. in Psychology, and a M.S. in Narrative Medicine. In my journey to pursue medicine, I've had many opportunities to develop my love for science and for teaching others. In January 2025, I scored a 520 on my MCAT with a subsection breakdown of 130/130/129/131. This means I scored at the 96th percentile in Chemistry/Physics, 98th percentile in CARS, 90th percentile in Biology/Biochemistry, and 97th percentile in Psychology/Sociology. I achieved this score on my first try while working full-time as a nontraditional pre-med and studying for approximately 4 months.
I have about a year of tutoring experience. In college, I volunteered by teaching and tutoring elementary school students. I got to know my students' individuals needs and worked to develop specific lesson plans to help improve their skills. In addition to this tutoring experience, I also have experience teaching virtual workshops to undergraduate and graduate students, medical residents, and faculty at the University of Southern California. In particular, I helped to refine a trauma-informed care presentation that I taught one-on-one to medical students and residents by using interactive learning strategies.
In tutoring for the MCAT, I will develop personalized study schedules and lesson plans with each student. Taking the MCAT as a non-traditional student, I know what it takes to review content effectively and thoroughly. I will get to know each of my students' content weaknesses and effectively develop lessons to work with students through those gaps. I also will provide feedback on test-taking strategies and help students develop tips and tricks for working through the long passages on the MCAT. I am confident in my ability to teach, and my experiences will allow me to help students perform to the best of their potential on the MCAT. Please reach out to ask any questions or schedule a session, I am a fast responder!" less...
