"Hi, I’m Jed! I’m a lifelong learner, endlessly curious, and excited to work with you on your academic and professional goals. I've always been passionate about education – I have 6 years of experience consulting for colleges and K-12 schools, have volunteered in classrooms, worked with students one-on-one, and served on the board of a Montessori school.
I received a BA in international relations and political science from the University of Southern California and an MBA from Duke University, where I earned a merit scholarship. While at USC, I volunteered for 2 years in Los Angeles elementary and high school classrooms teaching conflict resolution skills and international relations topics. Since then, I’ve continued working with students through one-on-one lessons, focusing on math, reading, and career preparation.
I tutor many subjects, including K-12 Math, English, and Social Sciences. I've achieved a 99th percentile SAT score (800 Math, 750 Reading/Writing) and a 98th percentile GMAT (750). I can work with you on your standardized test goals or to improve your grades in these subjects.
My tutoring approach is to diagnose the "why" behind a student's struggles, and then work together through hands-on examples that build the key fundamentals necessary for sustained success. I like connecting learning concepts to real-world scenarios that make abstract ideas more relatable and fun (e.g., teaching math with sports statistics or money), and but maintain flexibility in my approaches so that you can be enthused and engaged. After a lesson, I’ll recommend areas of focus so that you can continue your improvement. I believe in a growth mindset and find it so rewarding when a student’s hard work allows a concept to finally click.
My schedule is flexible, and I can meet in person or online. I also understand that last-minute conflicts happen, so I allow cancellations up to 2 hours prior to an appointment. Please reach out if you have any questions or would like to schedule a lesson!" less...
