"I am a technical person by trade, but was hired by my school (while attending for my Associate's Degree in HVAC) to tutor fellow students based on my Math and English skills. I am 48, and was born in West Virginia but raised in San Diego. I have worked as an refrigeration technician, Helpdesk technical support agent, and many other jobs which include customer service.

Although I never sought my teaching credential(s), I found during my tutoring job that I not only had a talent for it; but also enjoyed it thoroughly. I believe the part I like best is being able to put the lessons in terms the student can understand. It's one thing to explain something properly - another to explain it in a way which can be absorbed by the person being taught.

Explaining lessons in a way which can be readily absorbed by the student; the ability to be patient; and perhaps most of all, with regards to Math, giving real world comparisons and scenarios, so a student can see why/how Math is used.
