I love to be at the door of your learning and to welcome you into that new world. I have been tutoring for a long time (20+ years) and enjoy working with each new student. In the Washington, D.C. area, I tutored many students from many backgrounds and cultures. I even have my name in famous test preparation books as a contributor of new, fun ideas.
Sometimes, all you need is to build confidence -- develop a "can do" attitude. And sometimes, it turns out that you missed one or two little things along the way. Then again, you may have, for examples, moved that month or didn't click with a teacher. In life, stuff happens. We'll find any stumbling blocks and we'll go back and conquer them so that your journey continues onward and upward! ("to infinity and beyond"?) Keep in mind though, that I will always remember you are a thinking, feeling individual, It is always my honor to help someone. To me, that is what my life is about.
I pride myself in putting a learner at ease. Once you are at ease and I understand your way of learning best and your interests in life, then and only then can I tailor the learning around you. I am also effective at bringing to play decades of solid methods -- what works!
I have been honored to be chosen teacher of the year at my school and teacher of the quarter for a nationwide system of schools. I have written a curriculum for a college course. I have mentored, and supervised teachers. In tutoring for a famous test-prep company, I was titled a master tutor. As a teacher my last assignment was as a Master Teacher and Chair of the Mathematics Department.
I have master's level training in mathematics and in teaching students who speak a native language other than English. I am also a member of MENSA, the high IQ organization.
I bring much dedication and experience to helping you. I see each person as having unique gifts to share with the world. My style is warm, encouraging, honest, and considerate." less...
