"Hello there!
My name is Ben, and I am a current and practicing licensed professional engineer (Licensed in Louisiana and New York). I have been working in the engineering and construction field for the last 14 years, and hold two bachelor degrees (B.S.) in both Math and Civil Engineering from the University of New Orleans, and am in my final final semester as a graduate student (M.S., Civil Engineering) at Mississippi State University.
During my undergraduate math studies I was a volunteer math tutor at University of New Orleans Math room, and developed an enthusiasm for teaching and tutoring math and science, especially to underclassman college students, covering remedial trigonometry/algebra, all the way up to multi-variable calculus, differential equations, Fourier series, and partial differential equations. My undergraduate math curriculum included Abstract Algebra, Advanced Calculus I/II, Topology, and Advanced Actuarial Studies.
My engineering and graduate studies have covered mostly structural analysis/design, including steel and concrete design, but also including finite element analysis, matrix structural analysis, Matlab programming, and engineering economics/time value of money analysis.
Lastly my engineering career has spanned multiple fields from military construction ( served 4 years with Army Corps of Engineers at West Point, NY), to power/substation infrastructure (current position) to over 9 years as a consultant design engineer. Overall, I have 14 years of experience as a practicing engineer and am enthusiastic about having students embrace STEM.
I look forward to hearing from you!" less...
