"In high school, I faced a harsh reality: the greatest gift a child can receive is the freedom to fail, yet many families, including mine, couldn’t afford that luxury. While my peers from wealthier households had access to tutors, advisors, and multiple exam retakes, I had to make every opportunity count. I treated every subject as cumulative, connecting concepts across topics and building on previous knowledge to ensure nothing was forgotten. Through active recall, efficient note-taking, and long, focused study sessions, I maximize my learning. This disciplined approach earned me a 3.9 GPA, a 95th-percentile SAT score, college credits, finalist positions for the prestigious Gates Scholarship and QuestBridge, and a school-level scholarship award.
Motivated to help others in my community achieve similar success, I joined a local tutoring organization, OTW Inc. There, I tutored over 20 students, helping them improve their grades, prepare for exams, and build a foundation for college readiness. I also worked with students with learning disabilities, tailoring my teaching methods to meet their individual needs and empowering them to gain the confidence to succeed academically.
