"I'm an experienced, friendly tutor and teacher with over a decade of experience. I love guiding students to the "aha! moment" when a concept suddenly becomes clear. I've tutored students ranging in age from elementary school through college, including a number with learning disabilities. I meet students where they're at, and my tutoring style is patient, passionate, and encouraging.
With a PhD in Literature and Writing, I have a vast depth of knowledge in everything related to reading, writing, and the humanities. I can help students with any kind of essay assignments, including essays that are due the next day.
I also have vast experience with test prep. I scored 800 on the SAT Verbal and 1530 overall (in the old, 1600-point scoring system), and I've excelled on the GRE and GRE Literature Subject Test as well.
I've helped students improve their SAT score by over 200 points, and students I've helped have been admitted to Cambridge, Yale, Dartmouth, Notre Dame, University of Chicago, Northwestern, Johns Hopkins, NYU, Vanderbilt, UCLA, and other elite universities. I'm able to teach students strategies that will help them crack any standardized test and greatly improve their scores on the SAT, ACT, GRE, and GMAT. I am able to help with the entire application process, from school selection to application organizing to editing the Common App essay and other materials.
I've also taught at USC, Saint Mary's, and IUSB, and I also have experience tutoring math, science, and many other subjects as well. My specialty areas include algebra, geometry, trigonometry, history, social studies, English and reading.
I have mastery of a wide variety of subjects, and my years of experience with the SAT and ACT have taught me tricks and strategies to help students dramatically improve their scores.
In everything, I'm prompt, efficient, prepared, and organized. At the same time, I'm calm, patient, and friendly, willing to work with students at their own pace, explaining or demonstrating somethin" less...
