"Hi, I’m Clover. I’m a conservation biologist, Explorers Club member, and Fulbright alumna. I graduated summa cum laude from Columbia College (SC) with Bachelor of Science degrees in Biology and Math and a minor in Environmental Studies.
From an early age, I loved learning. In kindergarten, I had stacks of nature books. In 3rd grade, I took 4th grade math. In middle school, I took college Calculus and Chemistry. I graduated from high school and started college at 16. I also got a perfect SAT Math score.
Alongside my own education, I taught others. My 5th and 6th grade teacher appointed me to help students behind in Math. In college, I tutored other students, often in general math, by seeing where they struggled, framing concepts, and equipping them with practice problems and strategies to handle course material. I’ve proofread writing of friends and family, taught English to kindergartners in China, have TEFL certification, and helped with environmental education events through zoo volunteering and Fulbright research in the Philippines (hence the sailfin lizard in my picture).
My tutoring approach consists of troubleshooting concerns and providing an engaging framework. For math, I’ll see what area students want to work on. If they’ve already started, I may review their already completed work or give practice questions to strengthen skills. If they’re new to the topic, I’ll show examples, see their approach, and offer feedback. For science, I’ll listen to students’ current understanding of topics and deepen their knowledge or help clarify confusing areas. For proofreading, I’ll discuss pre-written documents, identify errors, and explain why they should be corrected. I aim to connect all subjects to students’ areas of interest and desired career paths when possible.
Currently, I’m available to tutor elementary math and science, Prealgebra, Algebra 1 and 2, Ecology, and Biology, as well as proofreading assistance. Let me know if you would like help!" less...
