"I have spent a lifetime in politics at the local, state, national and international levels. Some of that time has been as a government employee, including 18 years as an elected state legislator; and others as an employee and activist with NGOs both domestic and foreign-based. While I am semi-retired, I stay current in a wide range of fields.

I have extensive experience as a teacher and lecturer in health care policy, environmental policy, state & local government, and public interest law.

I was a political science undergraduate major but studied extensively in history and philosophy. During my active working career, I was widely acknowledged to be the person to call upon if you needed somebody to provide immediate expertise in a classroom or a large lecture hall. I was even a regular visitor to elementary schools to talk about rainforest ecology.

My most recent teaching work was in Burma/Myanmar teaching democratic governance and human rights to university-aged students, many of whom I remain in close contact with and tutor from afar to this day.
