My name is Jason, and I have been a math tutor for nearly 20 years.

It seems that math is generally taught as if it were a language, and thus requires immersion. That is, teaching math with math. This may work if you are learning French or Spanish, but not math. Math needs to be taught for what it is - a system. Much like music. The problem with that however, is that it's difficult to understand the little pieces until you understand the larger ones. That's where I can help.

Through my years of tutoring, I have developed volumes of what I call 'stories' to help students grasp what they are doing, and why they are doing it. Think 'teaching math using something other than math.'

If I have a student that is struggling with a particular topic, or could use some more practice, I will make them a practice sheet, and even a video for help on it.
