"Ever since I was a kid, I loved learning and teaching others what I learned, be they my friends, parents, or strangers. This continued as I got deeper into school and took more advanced classes, which only spurred on my curiosity and shaped my passions - history, linguistics, ecology, natural history, law, and many others. These passions, in various ways, led me to study in Lithuania, a small country in northeastern Europe.
I graduated in June 2024, after four life-changing years. No one enters and leaves university quite the same, and for studying abroad, at a critical time for the country I studied in, this was all the more amplified for me. Learning a new language (multiple at times), getting to know and live with people both from Lithuania and other countries, and acculturating myself in a new culture and environment all created a new series of aspects of my personality that make me who I am. I had plenty of interests prior to my studies, and afterwards, my passions have been cemented and my understanding heightened.
One of my major occupations in Lithuania was teaching English to Ukrainian refugees. I felt it was my calling, my way to do my part in helping Ukraine and its people in their most dire hour. Watching my students improve in their ability to speak and confidence of the English language was one of the most fulfilling things that I've ever done. In this teaching, I found it particularly helpful to connect with my students and their interests, giving them something for them to eagerly discuss when practicing English.
This experience as an "informal teacher", as well as the skills learned in my university studies, has made me a better tutor, and I'm eager to put what I know to work in helping others to better grasp the topics I'm passionate about." less...
