"Hi there! I'm Rawlins and I want to make sure that you have a great educational experience, while also finding ways to make learning fun. I am currently attending Southern Oregon University pursuing a BFA in Theatre Performance. As a theatre actor, I always try to make my tutoring sessions engaging and fun for the student.
My best subjects to tutor in are elementary education topics, specifically reading and writing. In high school, I volunteered for The African Library Project, which provided outreach and education for students who needed to learn to read and write, and I got a lot of tutoring experience through that, learning how to navigate teaching students who don't speak English as a first language.
My favorite moments in learning are those "a-ha!" ones where a student fully grasps a concept. And I want to be the person to lead that student there.
I was a reader very early in life, which lead towards a lifelong passion for reading and stories. Some of my favorite books to read when I was younger were The Hunger Games and The Percy Jackson series'.
As I grew older, I would get a passion for creating my own stories and universes. I have several short stories and plays that I have written myself. One of my plays even premiered at TheatreWorks in the Bay Area when I was 17 years old. This has also lead me into the world of proofreading, where I have edited the writing and grammar on several of my peers' works.
Public speaking is something that comes easy to me as a theatre performer. I am also a local drag queen and have a lot of experience hosting, which helps me teach students about speaking in front of a crowd and gaining confidence.
Thank you so much for reading my profile! Please feel free to reach out with any questions you have. I am ready to answer them. Scheduling a session is super easy, just send me a message! I can't wait to get to speak with you." less...
