"I’m Deb! I graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Dartmouth, and then went onto Harvard for my Masters. For the last 15 years I’ve worked with students of all levels and backgrounds on everything from academic planning, short term assignments, research projects and papers, math challenges, AP coursework, online courses for credit, all kinds of standardized test prep (ISEE, SSAT, SAT I, SAT II’s, ACT, AP’s, GED, GMAT, etc.). Through it all, my goal is to put the student in the driver’s seat, ready for what’s next day-to-day, and beyond.
The college process in its entirety: I’ve worked with dozens of students through every aspect of the admissions experience. Whether you’re an 8th grader looking for an early jump-in assessment or a senior scrambling to finish up essays, or anywhere in between, I cherish helping students at this moment-sphere and love seeing college dreams come true. My students have gone onto Brown, Dartmouth, George Washington, Wake Forest, New School, UC-Santa Cruz, Univ. of Wisconsin-Madison, USC, Tulane, Wesleyan, BU, NYU, UCLA, Pitzer, Kenyon, Cornell, Trinity College at Dublin, and more. I love the bridges between educational experiences–those transitional times in life that come to be defined by choices we make by way of a school–and what comes next/after.
My strength as a tutor has always been my connection with my students. I love bringing challenges down to size and demystifying the things that get in the way. I’ve found, with math especially, it’s hard to see just how close you are to figuring it out, and often, it’s just one piece of understanding that’s missing. I’m good at spotting those and isolating them. Together, we diminish the overwhelming into actionable bites.
Wherever you find yourself on your academic path, I’m here to help! Message me if you want to set up a time to do a free 20-30 minute virtual meet-and-greet to see if it’s a good fit/let me know what you’re looking for, and we can go from there." less...
