"With 23 years of teaching experience across three states, I have worked with students of all ages and abilities, from elementary through high school. As a certified special education teacher, I specialize in supporting students with learning differences, ADHD, dyslexia, executive functioning challenges, and those who simply need extra one-on-one support.
I have taught in self-contained classrooms, resource rooms, and inclusive general education settings. Currently, I teach high school students, focusing on prevocational and advocacy skills to prepare them for life beyond the classroom. I am trained in evidence-based strategies, including Orton-Gillingham reading interventions and specialized writing techniques for sentence and essay development. My teaching approach is individualized, engaging, and structured to meet each student’s unique needs. I use multisensory methods for reading and writing development, along with hands-on, real-world applications to make learning meaningful.
Beyond my professional experience, I also understand the challenges families face. I have three sons—one with dyslexia and another with ADHD—so I know firsthand the struggles of navigating school systems, the emotional toll on families, and the need for the right support. This dual perspective, as both an educator and a parent, allows me to approach tutoring with deep empathy, patience, and a commitment to student success.
I am passionate about helping students grow, whether that means mastering a new skill, gaining independence, or building confidence. Every child has the potential to succeed, and my goal is to provide the tools and strategies they need to thrive.
If you’re looking for a patient, experienced tutor who truly understands both the academic and emotional sides of learning challenges, I’d love to help. Let’s work together to create a plan that meets your child’s needs and helps them succeed!" less...
