"Hello, there! I’m Anjel. I graduated Summa Cum Laude and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology. I completed 2 years of graduate coursework in Molecular Biology and in Education. I have loved the life sciences since I was a child, and my passion for it remains to this day. My love for the sciences was reiterated in college where my favorite Biology professor showed me that learning complex concepts can also be fun and engaging, and I brought this idea with me when I entered the classroom.
I am an accomplished researcher with more than 20 years of molecular biology and clinical research experience and an accomplished and innovative educator with 10 years of teaching experience. I taught middle school Science for 1 year and high school Biology and Anatomy & Physiology for 9 years where I conducted afterschool tutor sessions. I also have 3 years of experience tutoring individual students. I am a very enthusiastic and animated educator. I began every school year by telling students that “Biology is awesome.”, and I instructed them to say it out loud several times. I then explained that Anatomy & Physiology is one of the many divisions of biology, one that focuses on the miraculous structure and function of the human body. So, they are AWESOME, too!
I am quite passionate about learning, and I believe it is a life-long process. It is my hope that my enthusiasm will “infect” students, which will foster engagement and increase absorption, comprehension and retention of the material. My ultimate goal is to inspire and encourage students to be independent as well as collaborative learners. I also strive to be inclusive and empathetic to all students, as each student is unique and special.
I want my students to be as successful as possible and I will do what I can to help them achieve that success. I welcome any references, resources or suggestions from students and parents that will assist me in providing the best instruction possible. Please reach out if you have any questions or to schedule a session!" less...
