"I am the son of a teacher, and have tutored friends and peers while in high school, college and also after college. Both having a teacher for a mother and also working with friends has reinforced the following reality: teachers are people too. These experiences taught me that the teacher is a friend or a partner in the challenge of attaining new knowledge. Accordingly, I want students to conquer unknown material by acquiring knowledge facilitated by my energetic, fun, patient, persistent, and open-minded personality.

In light of my appreciation for humanizing the educational process, I describe how my professional experience applies to teaching. Much of my knowledge comes from attaining actuarial credentials, consulting, majoring in actuarial science and minoring in mathematics. Applying the credentials in consulting has involved providing expert advice and communicating technical matters to varying audiences and clients. This experience reinforced the importance of breaking big ideas into smaller digestible pieces and finding a reasonable starting point, something someone does know. I earned the actuarial credential, Associate of the Society of Actuaries, by learning statistics and mathematical principles and demonstrating mastery of them on curved exams.

For more detail on my academic background, attaining credentials taught me Calculus & Linear Algebra and also Probability & Statistics. Because each exam required hundreds of preparation hours, I have discovered efficient learning methods for subjects like these. As my identical major and minor grade point averages of 3.8/4.0 may suggest, I graduated with highest honor. Some of these degrees’ relevant courses include Calculus and Analytic Geometry I & II and also Introductions to both Probability Theory and Mathematical Statistics.
