"Hi! I'm an aerospace engineer turned teacher who likes working one-on-one and in small groups much better than managing classrooms. I specialize in finding a way to make whatever you need to learn connect to something you like learning about, and making complicated things easier to understand! I'm interested in pretty much everything, so I've been all over the world to learn and teach and explore! I've taught all ages, from Kindergartners to Adults, and all subjects! The most fun I have is teaching about how this amazing world of ours works, whether it's talking about magnets and other planets, or how cooking is actually just cleverly disguised (and much tastier!) chemistry and math! I've taught very serious subjects like how not to destroy spacecraft while you're building them, and sillier subjects like how to build mechanical bats out of Legos for Halloween. I've taught in classrooms, after school, in labs, professionally for adults in business settings, and in a jungle (yes, really). I've found a way to teach at every job I've had over the last 20 years, and now that I'm a mom I'm making teaching more officially my full time job!
I'm a little crazy and have two undergrad degrees: one in Aerospace Engineering and one in Anthropology, and have done my best to use both of them throughout my career! I've lived and worked in Colorado, California (for NASA), Germany (with a bunch of German rocket scientists) and in Nepal (with a bunch of amazing kids!). Ask me anything! (If I don't know where to start, I bet I'll know where to look it up, and we can find out more about it together!)
I look forward to meeting you, seeing how I can make what you need to know become more fun, and help share my love of learning with you!" less...
