"After graduating from the University of Puerto Rico – Aguadilla Campus in 2010 with a degree in Biology, I earned a Ph.D. in Biology, focusing on Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, from the University of Puerto Rico – Rio Piedras Campus in 2016. My dissertation centered on identifying and characterizing novel phosphorylated residues in Upf2, crucial in the nonsense-mediated mRNA decay (NMD) pathway and translation termination.

Immediately after obtaining my Ph.D., I was offered a position as an Assistant Professor at the University of Puerto Rico – Rio Piedras Campus due to my exemplary performance during graduate studies and strong teaching skills. I was primarily tasked with teaching the Biochemistry of the Cell course.

Over the past eight years, I have taught a diverse range of students, from undergraduates to advanced graduate students, aged 18 to 30. My teaching spans traditional classrooms, labs, one-on-one mentoring, and online education. I have taught courses including Biological Sciences, General Biology I and II, Genetics, Human Biology I and II, Immunology, Cellular and Molecular Biology, Biochemistry of the Cell, Human Sexuality, and Cancer Biology. My experience includes both large and small lecture settings, allowing for dynamic and engaging instruction.

In addition to teaching, I have coordinated courses such as General Biology I and II, Biochemistry of the Cell, and laboratories like General Biology I, Biotechnology, Virology, and graduate courses such as Seminar II and Molecular Immunology. I also have significant administrative experience as the Special Assistant to the Dean of Academic Affairs at the Faculty of Natural Sciences, where I’ve been involved in enhancing student success initiatives.

Furthermore, I hold a certification in "Construction of Virtual Environments," enabling me to create and adapt courses for hybrid or fully online formats. My teaching approach combines rigorous academic standards with the flexibility required to meet today’s diverse educational needs." less...
