"Hello, my name is Aisha and I am a 4th year teacher with my Early Childhood Education Certification. In 2017, I graduated from Wheaton College in Norton, MA with my B.A. in Early Childhood Education and Women's and Gender studies. Fast forward to 2019 where I graduated from Wheelock College of Education and Human Development at Boston University with my M.Ed in Teaching and Curriculum with a strong concentration in special education. I have experience tutoring grades Pre-K - 8th grade, as well as 11th and 12th grade. Formally, I have taught Kindergarten 1 and Kindergarten 2 at schools in Lynn, MA and now Boston, MA. I love teaching and tutoring because I get to watch students grow academically and being part of that process is very rewarding for me.
I have taught and studied the current common core curriculum. While I currently teach K1, I have studied curriculums up to sixth grade and have experience tutoring up to 8th grade following common core.
While being an early childhood educator may not seem like I would be a qualified reading tutor, it is actually an advantage. In my undergraduate and graduate studies, I had to learn all about how to teach kids to read. I know how to break down words in a way that students will understand and put them together to create meaning in a way that makes sense for each individual student. I teach reading fluency strategies as well as reading comprehension. I know that if a student can achieve fluency, they will be well on their way to comprehending texts so that they can further analyze them.
I have been trained in and taught the Handwriting without Tears program. My experience in this guides me to being able to support students in handwriting so that they feel set up for success.
I have taught many different phonics curriculums including FUNdations (trained), Orton-Gillingham (trained).
If you are interested in fun tutoring sessions for Pre-K through 5th grade, please do not hesitate to contact me. I am open to meeting the child and family so we can figure out" less...
