"Thanks for checking out my profile. My name is Alex, and I have over a decade's worth of experience either tutoring or teaching in the classroom. I have a bachelor's degree in math and a master's degree in teaching from Kent State University. While I was in college I worked for the university as a math tutor. I covered classes ranging from Intro to College Algebra through Calculus II and Statistics.
I'm currently in my seventh year of teaching. I have taught Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2, and currently teach Pre-Calculus, and a Calculus class where my students earn dual-credit in high school and a nearby college. I have also completed training to teach AP Calc.
In my experience I have noticed that most struggles in math are caused by either moving along in the curriculum before the student has a strong grasp of existing material or confusion over new topics. When I tutor I try to recognize where those problems are, and we work towards fixing them. Once we get through that, the student starts making really significant progress very quickly.
In working with literally thousands of students, the biggest thing I have learned is that there are no two that are the exact same. Due to this, my tutoring is never the same. I will do my best to find where you are having troubles, and work with you in a way that you understand. Before you know it, math will seem much easier than you thought possible." less...
