"I graduated from Rowan University with a double major in history and secondary education. Following my graduation I taught in various capacities including a position as a high school history, sociology, and psychology teacher, a college English teacher in Turkey through the Fulbright Student Program, and created and executed professional development workshops in two West Philadelphia schools while working as part of the University of Pennsylvania's Netter Center for Community Partnerships. These experiences have provided me with the ability to adhere to the needs of a variety of learners.
Additionally, I hold an M.A. in history from the University of Cincinnati and will be completing my first year of my Ph.D. program studying history and educational policy studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. My expertise as both a historian and as an educator provide me with the tools needed to help my students succeed. I have experience tutoring online and have helped several of my peers and students craft successful applications for competitive programs. Students I have worked with have been accepted to the University of Pennsylvania, Harvard, Georgetown, and the University of Michigan. Additionally, I have been awarded several competitive awards including a Fulbright, Critical Language Scholarship (CLS), Foreign Area Language Studies Fellowship (FLAS), and numerous research grants, awards, and fellowships. I am confident my skills as a student, along with my experiences as a teacher, will enable me to help my students succeed.
I taught college-level English at the University of Akdeniz in Antalya, Turkey as part of the Fulbright Student Program. While there, I also worked with graduate students preparing for TOEFL and IELTS. In addition to my experience teaching English as a foreign language, my role as a history teacher and graduate student has prepared me with the advanced skills needed to teach writing, reading, and speaking courses in English.
As a teacher, I have also learned to cater to the specif" less...
