"Hi, I'm Andrea! I received a B.S. with University Honors in Mechanical Engineering and Robotics from Carnegie Mellon University in 2020. In 2022, I received my M.S. in Robotics from the University of Michigan. I continued on to earn my Ph.D. in Robotics from the University of Michigan in 2024. I have published cutting-edge research at leading venues and have won numerous awards for my contributions to both the field of robotics and the larger STEM community.
Throughout my education, I have worked with students of all ages towards developing fundamental STEM skills and robotics skills. I was a 2-time Teaching Assistant for Introduction to Robotics at Carnegie Mellon University as an undergraduate student in 2019 and 2020. I was the Graduate Student Instructor for Introduction to Robotic Manipulation at the University of Michigan in 2024, where my teaching evaluations matched or exceeded the overall scores for the College of Engineering. My highest rating was in treating students with respect.
Outside of official university teaching roles, I have worked with K-12 students as a volunteer in local schools and extracurricular programs to provide support to overburdened teachers and give students access to topics that their school may not have curricula for. Because I always felt behind in my undergraduate computer science coursework due to the nonexistence of computer sciences classes in my high school, providing this type of support is something I am very passionate about.
Finally, I have always supported my academic success with athletics. While I was at Carnegie Mellon University, I played NCAA Women's Soccer as a goalkeeper, advancing to the NCAA Final Four in the 2019 season and making it to the NCAA Playoffs for 3 of 4 seasons. As a senior, I won the coveted coach-awarded Tartan Award for my contributions to the team. Finding a balance between the classroom and the playing field is something that enabled me to excel at both. I offer goalkeeper training to prepare future student-athletes for success." less...
