I have experience teaching courses in American History, World History, Civics, Ancient History, Current Affairs, Psychology and AP Psychology. I also have an extensive writing background (BA in Journalism, University of Connecticut). Perhaps most importantly, during my experience as a teacher, I've developed numerous strategies to help those students who tend to struggle with their academics. I have developed several different educational approaches to best meet the needs of individual students based on his/her learning styles and interests. When teaching, it is imperative that the educator be able to recognize the progress of the student (specifically, being able to identify where and why the student may be struggling). A good teacher will identify those areas of need and adjust accordingly.
The question I hear most students asking is "Why do I need to know this?" or 'When will I ever need to know this?" I have always taken great pride in my ability to make learning meaningful and memorable. My biggest goal in preparing a lesson is addressing these very questions. When the student can relate to the material, he/she will always remember it. This is, and always will be, my approach to teaching any student regardless of the content matter. I look forward working with you!" less...
