"I am a Florida certified teacher for Physics and Math grades 6-12 and currently teaching Honors, Regular, and AP Physics in a high school. Over the years I have taught AP Physics, Physics Honors, Honors Gifted, and Regular. I've also taught Physical Science Honors and Regular, as well as Earth Space Science Honors and Regular. I've been tutoring Science and Math for 11 years, but like my students, my own learning never ceases. I am always continuing my education (which began with a BA in Physics with a specialized track in Education Physics and is continuing with an MA in Teaching and Learning with a specialization in Technology Integration) through professional development workshops and courses so that I am up to date with all the latest information and technology in my subject fields. This not only benefits me as a professional instructor, but my students as well.
No one wants a tutor who leaves students clueless once on their own. It's for this reason that my tutoring methods are mainly student-driven. I firmly believe that every student can flourish as long as he or she is given the right tools and is dedicated to learning the material through practice and hard work. My goal as a tutor and as a teacher is to encourage my students to think for themselves and apply their knowledge instead of just repeating concepts and equations that are easily forgotten and really don't make any sense to them. My sessions focus on what is preventing them from moving forward with their knowledge in the subject, and tackle those lacking concepts. Once they have that necessary comprehension and clarity, it will automatically instill a greater confidence in themselves and their ability to succeed on assignments and exams. Plenty of tutors can help a student to regurgitate classroom knowledge and pass a test. What I want is for the student to actually understand what is being taught and carry the skills they learn with them, whether it's for personal real-world applications, or as a future professional." less...
