"I am a PhD candidate in art history at the University of Florida. I have just returned to the U.S. after 15 months of fieldwork in Mozambique. My research deals with Mozambican artists who use recycled materials in the creation of their art. I received funding for my dissertation research from a Fulbright-Hays DDRA grant. I have had several years experience teaching art history in a university setting, at large public universities (University of Florida and Buffalo State College), small liberal arts colleges (Canisius College, Buffalo, NY), and at a medium security prison (Wyoming Correctional Facility, Attica, NY). Each year I have been involved with the annual AP art history reading since 2003. I began as a reader and have been promoted to the task of Table Leader, which includes overseeing the readers, and being exposed to the test development committee's decisions on specific questions and their viability to reflect the changing face of AP art history in high schools and colleges. Since I will be writing my dissertation, I thought that tutoring would provide me with an excellent opportunity to share my broad knowledge and experiences with art history to students preparing for the AP art history exam and taking courses in college and graduate school.
