I studied Spanish throughout high school and college. I was an exchange student to the Universidad de Costa Rica in San Jose, have traveled extensively in Spain and also to Mexico and Chile, and have a Community Spanish Facilitator certificate from Durham Technical Community College in Durham, NC.
English is the language we all use to communicate in this country, and any person who hopes to do well in life needs to have a commanding use of English in all forms--reading, writing, vocabulary, conversation, etc.
I have B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. degrees in History. I have specialized in the history of the Middle East but have also studied and taught American, European, Asian, and Latin American history. I am just back from two years in Kuwait and have extended stays in Spain, Germany, Costa Rica, and China, and have traveled to many countries around the world, and those travels have helped my History teaching from a first-hand, personal experience and not just something I read in a book. The world is a big, complicated place, and I enjoy helping students to make sense of it and appreciate it.
My schedule is flexible, and I look forward to hearing from you and working out a time for us to get started." less...
