"I like to discuss how to solve mathematics problems. I usually tell my students that every problem is a puzzle or riddle. All you have is to identify what is given, what to find out, and what means you can use besides your brain. Mathematics is mostly not about numbers, it is about ideas, relations and strategies that can combine the solutions of different types of problems.

I have been teaching mathematics for 35 years. This is my 17th year of teaching algebra, geometry, college algebra, dual credit trigonometry and precalculus in Houston. I tutor some students who take honor's class of geometry and trigonometry. I also have an experience in teaching middle school level math.

I appreciate student's will to learn by understanding. Shortcuts in solving problems can be used only if you understand what concept is behind that shortcut. I measure student's knowledge by his/her ability to explain the way(s) that leads to the correct answer.
