"Hello there! My name is Dan, and I love teaching AP Economics, Criminal Justice, History, and other Social Studies subjects! I’ve been a public school teacher for 15 years now, teaching in all kinds of educational settings across the country- urban, rural, and suburban.
I teach AP Economics a public school in Oregon. During the past 7 years, my students have consistently been some of the top in the state in terms of AP metrics. For evidence of that using the most current data-
This past year (2023), for Macroeconomics, 92% of my students got a 3 or higher, with the most common score being a 5 (42%). Mean score was 4.02, while Oregon was 3.53, and Globally it was 3.08.
For Microeconomics, a subject I teach but am NOT tutoring, this past year (2023), 93.6% students passed, mean score for my students was a 4.17, Oregon was 3.75, and Globally it was 3.25
My students also were the STATE CHAMPIONS of the National Economics Challenge in 2018, 2021, 2022, and 2023. This competition, administered by the Council for Economics Education, pits top high school economics students in teams against other programs in a written and quiz bowl-style format, culminating in a televised competition on CNBC. Competing in the national semi-finals those years, our highest national ranking was 14th in the country, which speaks to the quality, rigor, and confidence I instill in my students.
I was awarded Economics Teacher of the Year in the state of Oregon by the Oregon Council of Economics Education in 2019, which was a great honor. Some of those students who nominated me for that have gone on to even pursue PHD programs in Economics, thanking me for having inspired them in the field. Additionally, I was asked to serve as a Teacher Advisor to Marginal Revolution University, which is a non-profit program located at George Mason University that produces high quality online educational content for high school and college students across the country.
I'm excited to work with you and help you succeed!" less...
