"As an educator, there's no better feeling than witnessing your student go through an "aha" moment during a tutoring session. During these "aha" moments, students realize that hard work does pay off and that they are capable of more than they've previously thought. No matter their starting points or past performance, my goal is to create as many of these "aha" breakthroughs for students. As a lifelong learner and educator with over six years of experience, I know that the best teaching happens when students feel seen and supported by their instructors.
I love one-on-one tutoring precisely because it's the most effective way to build relationships and teach to each student's specific learning preferences. I currently tutor English, U.S History, Regents, Spanish, AP exam and SAT prep and a few other humanities courses. Outside of core content areas, I'm very skilled at college admissions counseling and LOVE working on personal statements with applicants.
Please allow me to share a bit about my educational journey as well as my professional experience: I received my BA in American History & Literature from Harvard College and my MA in Teaching from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. This is my fourth year in the classroom and sixth year working as a private tutor. I presently serve as a certified high school AP English teacher in NYC and as a college application counselor for a university program on weekends. When I'm not teaching, I can be found drafting chapters of my first book project as I was recently signed by a literary agency.
My teaching style is warm, relaxed, and rigorous. As an educator who's worked in high-stakes settings, I have experience adapting material for students who have special learning needs as well as students who are labeled as gifted/talented. My only requirements for you as a student would be the following: dream the loudest and work your hardest.
