My approach is simple: I think history must be pertinent to the student. I use a system of subjectifying the events and the sequences of the subject. For example, to understand Napoleon, a student should understand how he may think or feel or how his officers and men would perceive him. I also use a method of writing instruction that systematically builds writing skill."
