"My name is Ashton and I'm an Arkansas and Texas certified teacher with ten years of experience in the classroom. I am certified to teach English, language arts, and reading, math, science, and social studies grades 4-8, gifted education grades K-12, art grades K-12, and ESL grades K-12. I have taught 8th grade English, language arts, and reading for 5 years, K-5 gifted and talented for 3 years, and reading intervention for 2 years.

My classroom and tutoring philosophies are the same: help students learn relevant information in a way that's engaging and helping them long term. I want to ensure that students are seeing the relevance of what they're learning with not just the class they're in now, but how is this going to help them in life. My 8th grade students frequently said that learning how to comprehend and analyze reading passages would never help them in the long run. I brought in the manual my father had to learn and pass a test on in order to work with a local company cleaning carpets. I was able to demonstrate how my dad was able to comprehend and use the information he read to be able to have his job. Even if students weren't college bound, this showed them the significance outside of the classroom. I believe this helps to create passionate learners with a lifetime of valuable skills.
