"Hello! My name is Kelly and I am recent graduate with a Bachelor's in Art History. I have spent some time tutoring middle and high school students at various after school programs. I taught english at a summer camp for two years to groups of sixth and seventh grade students. I have also spent time prepping students for college applications and writing (and editing!) college essays.
During a typical tutoring session, I will first ask what you think you weak spots are within the subject, review your studying materials, get a feel for what you already understand and no longer need to study and from there focus on what material you need to review. I am a huge believer in constant repetition (especially in art history and history) through the use of flash cards, quiz games etc. I enjoy tutoring and realize that everyone learns differently and am willing to learn from you as much as you will learn from me!
I enjoy writing and worked as a writing tutor while in college. I am particularly well versed in art historical research and the many platforms needed to search for art journals. As a hobby, I have a blog solely dedicated to writing about art so, I am constantly coming up with ideas, writing and editing. As a writer, I often focus on creating a strong introduction because I believe that sets the tone for the rest of your paper!
Before studying art history, I very much enjoyed learning about history. In school I received high marks on quizzes, exams and papers when I took an American history class. Instead of looking at history as a bunch of material you need to memorize, I treat American history as this long novel where once you learn the chronological order of events, it is much easier to really zoom in a particular time and learn the specifics that will help you ace your quiz or exam!
