"I love tutoring! I have over 14 years of experience in tutoring, both on-line and in-person. I used to be an Accountant but I wanted more interaction with people and changed careers. "I love tutoring! I have over 14 years of experience in tutoring, both on-line and in-person. I used to be an Accountant but I wanted more interaction with people and changed careers. In 2008, I started tutoring at the National Institute of Technology for the Deaf (NTID) in Rochester, New York. There, I tutored deaf and hard-of-hearing students in the business college assisting them at the university-level business courses. I have a Bachelor's degree in Economics and an MBA degree in Accounting, both from New York University.

The rating for my American Sign Language skill is, according to the Sign Language Proficiency Interview (SLPI), is Advanced Plus to Superior Plus Skill Level Range which means I am able to have a fully shared and natural conversation with in-depth elaboration for both social and work topics where all aspects of signing are native-like.

In 2010, I taught three classes in Cost Accounting at NTID using sign language. My class consisted on students with various levels of sign language skills of which I was able to adapt teaching methods and communication styles to meet the needs of each student.

My love for reading and writing led me to be an English Tutor at NTID in 2013. I helped deaf and hard-of-hearing students gain better understanding of the English language using visual aids and methods. Being deaf myself gives me the perspective deaf people have, and I am able to utilize their point of view for effective learning.

Since 2014, I performed over 400 hours of tutoring through Wyzant's platform with persons from elementary school, high schools, colleges, adults and even retirees. I put emphasis on the principles of the language as the foundation for expressing concepts and developing comprehension. That way, sign language can be used, not as a "shadow" or a derivative of the spoken language, but rather as a language itself.

What drew me to the state of Georgia? Warmer weather! Ahhh.

Please feel free to contact me for on-line tutoring. I look forward to sharing sign language with you!" less...
